Abstract

Retinopati diabetes (RD) merupakan kelainan retina pada pasien diabetes melitus dan menjadi penyebab utama kebutaan pada usia produktif di negara Barat. Kejadian RD pada populasi diabetes meningkat seiring durasi penyakit. Selain pengendalian gula darah, tindakan invasif berupa fotokoagulasi laser, injeksi anti-VEGF, atau tindakan bedah, mungkin diperlukan sesuai derajat keparahan RD. Skrining pada pasien DM diperlukan agar mendapat penanganan yang cepat dan tepat. Artikel ini membahas patofisiologi dan tatalaksana retinopati diabetes.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a retinal disorder in patients with diabetes mellitus and one of the leading causes blindness in Western world, particularly among working-age individuals. The incidence of DR was increased along with the duration of disease. Along with blood sugar control, invasive procedures such as laser photocoagulation, anti-VEGF injection, or surgery may be needed. Eye screening in diabetic patient is needed to provide prompt treatment. The pathophysiology and treatment of diabetic retinopathy will be discussed.
