Varicella or chickenpox is a primary varicella zoster virus infection. Varicella infects all age groups including newborns. Clinical manifestations of varicella infection in neonates depend on the time of exposure. Three types of neonatal varicella are fetal varicella syndrome, early neonatal varicella, and post natal varicella. Diagnosis was made mainly by clinical findings and history of exposure. Treatment includes hospitalization and intravenous acyclovir administration.
