The goal of insulin therapy is to mimic the pattern of normal endogenous insulin secretion. Various types of insulin can be divided into 3 main groups: fast/short-acting insulin, intermediate-acting insulin, and long-acting insulin. The choice of insulin regimen is adapted to various conditions and needs.
