Amidst advances in health technology and the increasing prevalence of degenerative diseases, infectious diseases remain important to consider, as do “old” diseases such as malaria and dengue fever, which remain endemic problems in some areas of Indonesia, as well as the clinical manifestations that can differ in children, as reported in two articles in this edition. Along with other articles on HMPV infections and toxoplasmosis, these may help raise our collective awareness.

Case reports revisit several cardiovascular issues, as well as tracheostomy procedures in critically ill patients, which may expand our understanding of better management practices. Another interesting topic is the issue of tattoos, which is associated with lifestyle but requires awareness of its medical risks. A narrative review of infertility issues may enhance understanding that medical issues also have policy dimensions that can impact the well-being of the broader community.
