Abstract

Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) is a concept that is increasingly being used in surgical procedures because of its benefits. Carbohydrate loading becomes one part of ERAS. Various studies have shown positive results from carbohydrates loading, especially in reducing insulin resistance which can disrupt post-operative patient metabolism. Maltodextrin is one of the most frequently recommended components in carbohydrate loading.
