Abstract

Intracranial pressure monitoring is important to prevent secondary brain injury. The “gold standard” measurement is still invasive and with infection and haemorrhage risks. Hence, non-invasive measurement of intracranial pressure is needed. One of the measurements is ultrasonographic measurement of optic nerve sheath diameter. This method has been proven to have high sensitivity and specificity and has a good correlation to intracranial pressure. It is also a low-cost, safe, quick, and easily repeatable measurement.
