Gonore (GO) merupakan penyakit infeksi menular seksual (IMS) yang paling sering terjadi, disebabkan oleh Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG). Di Indonesia, infeksi GO menempati urutan tertinggi penyakit IMS. Pada laki-laki, GO akan menimbulkan uretritis dan pada perempuan biasanya asimptomatik. Infeksi juga dapat terjadi di rektum dan orofaring. Pemeriksaan penunjang dapat menggunakan pewarnaan Gram, kultur, dan nucleic acid amplification test. Dalam dekade terakhir, NG mampu mengembangkan resistensi terhadap antibiotik yang direkomendasikan. Beberapa antibiotik yang dilaporkan telah resisten adalah penisilin, tetrasiklin, kuinolon, seftriakson, sefiksim, dan azitromisin.
Gonorrhea (GO) is one of the most common sexual transmitted diseases (STI), caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG). In Indonesia, GO infection is the most frequent STI diseases. The infection will cause urethritis in men and usually asymptomatic in women. Infection can also occur in rectum and oropharynx. Test for diagnosis are Gram staining, culture, and nucleic acid amplification test. In the last decade, NG demonstrated the ability to develop antibiotic resistance. Some resistant antibiotics are penicillin, tetracycline, quinolone, ceftriaxone, cefixime, and azithromycin.
