Beberapa terapi farmakologi baru mulai dikembangkan.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) affects around 11% global population. Non-specific symptoms of IBS and similarities with other gastrointestinal disorder cause difficulties in diagnosis and excessive diagnostic tests. Diagnosis is according to Rome IV criteria. The pathophysiology of IBS is not yet fully understood and most of the existing therapies are symptomatic according to subtype and the predominant symptoms, consisting of non-pharmacological and pharmacological therapies. Some new pharmacological therapies are being developed.
