Abstract

Status epilepticus is a neurologic emergency with morbidity and mortality that depends on the duration of seizures. The goal of status epilepticus therapy is immediate cessation of seizure activity which will reduce mortality and morbidity. Current guideline recommend the use of benzodiazepines as first-line therapy, phosphenitoin, valproic acid and levetiracetam as second-line therapy and anesthetic agents as thirdline therapy
