Abstrak

Infeksi saluran kemih umum ditemukan dengan kejadian rekurensi tinggi. Pengobatan infeksi saluran kemih adalah dengan antibiotik, namun resistensi kuman terhadap antibiotik lini pertama mulai menjadi masalah kesehatan. Cranberry dapat mencegah adhesi kuman ke sel pejamu sehingga mencegah kejadian ISK. Tinjauan sistematik ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas dan keamanan kranberi untuk pencegahan infeksi saluran kemih. Pencarian studi dari database elektronik yaitu Google Scholar, Pubmed dan Science Direct sesuai pertanyaan klinis dengan framework PICO. Studi dipilih berdasarkan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Luaran yang diekstraksi adalah efektivitas dan keamanan kranberi untuk pencegahan ISK. Dari 8 studi yang ditelaah, 7 studi menemukan bahwa cranberry dapat mencegah kejadian ISK secara bermakna, sedangkan 1 studi tidak bermakna. Tiga studi menyatakan bahwa efek samping cenderung minimal. Cranberry dapat mencegah kejadian ISK dengan efek samping minimal. Kandungan PACs (proanthocyanidins) dalam kranberi dapat mencegah adhesi kuman, sehingga mencegah kolonisasi traktus urinarius. Masih diperlukan penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai dosis dan durasi pemberian cranberry.
