Miscarriage or abortion is a complication in the first trimester pregnancy. The causes vary from chromosomal abnormalities to chronic diseases of pregnant women. Obstetric antiphospholipid syndrome (OAS) is an autoimmune disease that can happen in pregnancy, causing recurrent miscarriages resulting medical, social, and financial burdens. A pure OAS yields no other sign and symptoms aside from pregnancy complications such as recurrent miscarriage; it’s important to be recognized and managed.
