Although until now functional constipation still has various definitions, the symptoms are often interfering with quality of life, especially in young adults. If not managed properly, it may have a serious negative impact on health. Adequate fiber intake is an effective alternative to overcome this problem, but vegetables and fruits intake in Indonesia is still far from adequate. A recent pilot study found that the daily fiber intake among young adult workers in Jakarta is varied between 3.3–27.4 g. Additional dietary fiber in daily diet is expected to increase fiber intake so that it can be useful for dealing with complaints of constipation.
