Tuberculosis is an airborne transmitted disease. Droplet coughed by tuberculosis patients may infect other individuals. Examination for acid-fast bacilli from sputum smear has not been able to assess the M. tuberculosis transmissibility. Cough aerosol test for M. tuberculosis may be used to assess the transmission potential of tuberculosis patients to their contacts.
