Dampak Kebiasaan Merokok terhadap Risiko Anestesi dan Pembedahan

Merokok tidak saja berdampak negatif terhadap kesehatan umum, namun juga dapat meningkatkan risiko komplikasi perioperatif. Komplikasi perioperatif akibat merokok antara lain gangguan kardiopulmonal, gangguan neurologi, perubahan metabolisme obat anestesi, nyeri pascabedah yang lebih sulit dikendalikan, penyembuhan luka lambat, dan infeksi luka operasi. Berhenti merokok sebelum pembedahan dapat menurunkan risiko komplikasi perioperatif. Periode pembedahan juga dapat dijadikan momentum untuk berhenti merokok.
