Peran Citicoline Oral Sebagai Terapi Tambahan dalam Pengobatan Glaukoma

Glaukoma merupakan penyebab kedua kebutaan secara global. Salah satu cara mencegah perburukan glaukoma sudut terbuka adalah dengan menurunkan tekanan intraokular; namun pada tekanan intraokular terkontrol baik, masih dibutuhkan alternatif terapi neuroprotektor, potensi yang diperkirakan terdapat pada citicoline. Laporan kasus berbasis bukti ini meninjau efektivitas citicoline oral sebagai terapi tambahan glaukoma, melalui PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane, EBSCO Host, dan Google Scholar. Dari 22 studi yang teridentifikasi awal, 3 artikel dipilih untuk telaah kritis. Lanza M, et al, mendapatkan RNFL dan GCC kelompok citicoline 500 mg lebih tinggi bermakna, 70,39 dan 71,19 Pm, p<0,01 dibandingkan kontrol, setelah 12 bulan. Studi Sahin AK, et al, menunjukkan RNFL lebih tinggi bermakna pada bulan ketiga dibandingkan awal pada kelompok citicoline oral 250 mg, p=0,038. Penelitian Putri VC, et al,setelah 60 hari, berdasarkan analisis subkelompok, terdapat perbedaan bermakna pada perubahan ketebalan RNFL dan GCIPL sebelum dan setelah intervensi pada glaukoma ringan di kelompok citicoline 500 mg dan pada glaukoma sedang–berat di kelompok citicoline 1.000 mg. Suplementasi citicoline oral mencegah perburukan glaukoma secara bermakna, sehingga dapat diberikan sebagai terapi tambahan.
