Sarkopenia merupakan kondisi yang ditandai dengan penurunan massa, kekuatan, dan fungsi otot. Sirosis hepatis yang merupakan kondisi katabolik dengan pemecahan protein otot melebihi sintesisnya, erat hubungannya dengan terjadinya sarkopenia. Asosiasi ini terkait dengan komplikasi sirosis yang lebih parah, kunjungan ke rumah sakit yang lebih sering, dan kematian dini. Tinjauan pustaka ini diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan pentingnya pencegahan, pengawasan, dan manajemen sirosis hepatis yang tepat.
