Pre-eklampsia dan eklampsia merupakan vaskulopati konstriktif yang dapat menyerang retina, pembuluh darah retina, hingga korteks serebri sistem penglihatan, yang dapat menyebabkan komplikasi gangguan penglihatan ringan hingga berat bahkan kebutaan. Gangguan penglihatan ini dapat dicegah dengan deteksi dini berkala atau pemeriksaan komprehensif untuk kasus yang lebih berat. Tata laksana yang tepat dan cepat dapat mengurangi risiko yang lebih berat hingga kecacatan permanen.
