Abstrak

Epilepsi merupakan gangguan kronis pada otak yang paling umum dan dapat menyerang seluruh usia. Secara global, diperkirakan 60 juta orang didiagnosis mengalami epilepsi, setengahnya adalah wanita, dan sekitar sepertiga wanita penderita epilepsi berada pada usia subur. Terapi utama epilepsi adalah obat anti-epilepsi yang bertujuan untuk mengontrol bangkitan epilepsi. Di Indonesia, obat anti-epilepsi lini pertama adalah carbamazepine, valproic acid, phenobarbital, dan phenytoin, sedangkan obat anti-epilepsi lini kedua adalah lamotrigine, levetiracetam, clobazam, dan topiramate. Banyak kekhawatiran saat wanita dengan epilepsi mulai merencanakan kehamilan, terutama mengenai pengaruh obat–obat epilepsi terhadap kehamilan dan efeknya terhadap janin, seperti efek teratogenik, outcome neonatal, dan dampak perkembangan saraf. Pemilihan obat anti-epilepsi (OAE) untuk wanita subur harus dipertimbangkan dengan hati-hati.
