Abstrak

Tuli mendadak atau sudden sensorineural hearing loss merupakan tuli sensorineural yang termasuk kedaruratan di bidang THT-KL karena bisa menjadi permanen jika tidak segera ditangani. Tuli mendadak ditandai dengan penurunan pendengaran sensorineural minimal 30 dB dalam waktu kurang dari 72 jam. Penyebab tuli mendadak sebagian besar tidak diketahui (idiopatik) sehingga tata laksana dilakukan secara empiris. Prinsip tata laksana tuli mendadak adalah deteksi dini, diagnosis dini, dan pengobatan dini. Tata laksana tuli mendadak yang utama adalah steroid oral atau intratimpani atau kombinasi keduanya. Terapi hiperbarik oksigen (HBOT) telah menjadi terapi adjuvan yang menjanjikan, bekerja dengan cara meningkatkan oksigenasi pada perilimfe dan jaringan koklea yang iskemik. Beberapa studi menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi HBOT dengan steroid memberikan hasil yang lebih superior dibandingkan monoterapi steroid, terutama pada kasus tuli derajat berat dan jika dimulai dalam dua minggu sejak onset gejala. Namun, masih diperlukan penelitian lebih lanjut untuk melihat efektivitas terapi hiperbarik oksigen sebagai tata laksana tuli mendadak.
